  • Santiago Beltran Laborde
I recently finished a Masters of Energy program at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, within this program we were introduced to many of the intricacies of renewable and non-renewable energy, and I took some courses dedicated to sustainability and environmental policy to complement that knowledge. I also have degrees in Economics (Math Emphasis) and Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am very interested in working within the growing field of energy. I wish to find entry level employment that in time will allow me to apply and expand my knowledge on energy markets and sustainability practices.

  • Daniel Mistro
I am a graduate student currently researching a residential energy sustainability project alongside Dr. Sharon Klein at the University of Maine. More specifically, I am researching the social, environmental, and economic effects of an affordable window insert designed by WindowDressers, a Maine based nonprofit organization. I have also actively participated as a coordinator and volunteer through two of their community projects in Bangor, Maine. I am motivated to study energy efficiency projects like this one, and it will be the core of my master’s thesis. My graduation date is set for August 2017. I have substantial experience in building online surveys and am developing my programming abilities to analyze data. I have recently programmed a Microsoft Excel tool using Visual Basic that was used to provide a money and energy savings estimate for the aforementioned non-profit project participants based on their individual housing characteristics. Furthermore, the quantitative and qualitative analysis of survey data I have gathered is being prepared using SPSS, and an efficiency analysis comparing my excel savings model to actual participant utility consumption is being written using R. In addition to these qualification, I also have experience in communicating with utility companies and working with large databases. During the summer of 2014 I worked as an intern funded by the National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL), tasked with developing a national utility rate database that is currently being used to decrease the soft costs of solar energy. I have a strong work ethic and am confident that I can prove to be a valuable asset to your team. Thank you for your time – I look forward to learning more about an opportunity with your company. Sincerely, Daniel Mistro
