EPA names Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc. Energy Star® 2006 Partner of the Year Energy Star

Loveland, CO, March 6, 2006 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc. as an ENERGY STAR 2006 Partner of the Year for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by building energy-efficient homes. Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc.'s accomplishments will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2006.

Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc., an ENERGY STAR partner since 2003, is being honored for building homes that meet EPA's strict guidelines for energy-efficiency. ENERGY STAR qualified new homes use substantially less energy for heating, cooling, and water heating – homeowners can expect to save about $200-$400 annually on their utility bills. Aspen guarantees the heating bills on their new homes to be at least 40% lower than a comparable new home built to code.

"Not only are we building homes that are beneficial to the environment, but we are building homes that are comfortable for our home buyers." said Rob Sabin, Director of Research and Development, Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc. "We take great pride in the work we have created through our partnership with ENERGY STAR."

The Partner of the Year Award is given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contribution to the construction of energy-efficient homes. Homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR benefit the environment by providing homeowners with quiet and comfortable homes that save money on utility bills. Winners are selected from over 8,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.

Last year alone, with the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved $12 billion on their energy bills and enough peak energy to power 28 million homes. Through those savings they avoided greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 23 million vehicles.

"ENERGY STAR homes come with important benefits for homeowners and help protect our environment," said Kathleen Hogan, director of EPA's Climate Protection Partnerships Division. "We applaud the efforts of our partners such as Aspen Homes of Colorado, Inc. to create a new generation of homes that offer efficiency, comfort, and durability."
